It was founded in 1998 in response to the success of the Choral Meeting of Alexandria Municipality and mainly because of the Alexandrians who love the choral music and the encouragement of the Board Members of the Choir at the time.
Like Melissanthi, Alexandrian Voices is, in the wider area of Alexandria, the music institution that target to the development of choral music, of course through the good company and the love for music itself. From the beginning it counts approximately 50 choristers, all amateurs (meaning that none has studied music) who love and sing almost all kinds of music.
Since their beginning, Alexandrian Voices had the opportunity to participate and be distinguished in numerous events, competive or not, musical or of special interest. Among all these cherished experiences there may be distinguished those with the Greeks abroad and, as a performance experience, the participation in the Berlin International Festival of Choirs both for the Best Presentation Prize and the experience of the unequaled acoustics of the Berliner Philharmonie. Of course, a very special place among these experience is the participation at World Choirs Games 2014 at Riga, where Alexandria Voices receive a Silver Diploma. It’s been also specially honored by UNESCO (2001) and the Holy Diocese of Veroia, Naousa and Kampania at 2002.
